I'm at a point where I am desperate to find help to keep my animals safe while I get back on my feet. I'll only post one time in any comm, and not repeat it, but if this is against the rules, mods, please delete.

6th-Jul-2013 09:07 pm - Tobie the Tongue Sticker-Outer

For those that don't know, Tobie's been gone 3 1/2 years now. But I have so many pictures of her, and she was such a fantastic cat, I feel the need to share!

So... Tobie would stick out her tongue sometimes. Maybe once a year. But when she did, it was like she didn't know that it was sticking out. It would completely dry out, and you could touch it and play with it for quite a while before she'd wise up and pull it back into her mouth.

The best part was the clueless looks she'd give you when you laughed at her, as if to say, "What are you going on about?" It was like she knew she was being silly and making her human parents laugh! She was one smart cookie, that's for sure! ;-)

I only caught it on film twice, but it's still funny to look at...

Hello, tortie lovers!

I wanted to make everyone aware of an addendum to our community rules:

4. Solicitations for donations or charity campaigns that are not affiliated with a recognized animal welfare organization such as the Humane Society or ASPCA will be deleted. Even then, if there is not a direct tortie-centric reason to be posting about them (the poster cat is a tortie, or something similar) then they are still subject to deletion. We are not opposed to charity, donations, or helping animals in need; it is just outside the subject of this particular community.

This restriction isn't to be cruel or heartless to any particular person or cause. Tortie Love cannot be responsible for verifying the accuracy of calls to action or requests for help. It's not our place. Therefore, we're going to keep this website about the torties, limit any charity posts to causes specifically related to torties and through major established charities only, and leave any other appeals to other, more appropriate venues.

If a problem post appears, feel free to message me to make me aware of it and I will deal with it promptly.

Thanks for your ongoing support and for helping keep this community going for 11 years!

Do you mind, human? Miss Katzen is trying to sleep here.

More adorable kitty goodness back hereCollapse )

Never mind that they wake us up all the time hehe. They hate when that pesty camera disturbs their beauty rest.

The Phooka
Super!Smidgie, in her quest to protect the home from any Evil Skwrls! (She loves to wear plastic grocery bags. If I take it off, she puts it on again. Grocery days are Smidgeon's favorite days of the week!)

Today I said goodbye to my tortie, Precious. I got her 7 years ago as a rescue. Her first family no longer wanted her after she lost a leg. I'm not sure how old she was, the vet said she was at least 7 when I got her. I know she lived a full life but it gives me little comfort right now. She was my second rescue tortie. Her "sister" Luna also was three legged. I knew as soon as I read about Precious she would be mine. After all what are the chances that I would come across two three legged torties in need of a good home? She was an anniversary present for my then husband and I to each other. I was also pregnant with my youngest son. For awhile now I knew Precious was going down hill. She had lost a lot of weight, threw up after eating and had stopped using her litter box. After a lot of torment I made the decision to end her suffering. She had been there for me through so much. My marriage ending, losing Luna and the death of my Grandmother. The hardest part for me was when my older son was saying goodbye and looked at me with such saddness. These next few weeks, if not longer, will be so difficult for all of us. So it is with a heavy heart I face tomorrow without my side kick. I wish you well my sweet baby I know you're on the other side yelling at Luna right now.
